David J. Sharpe joined the Journal's Editorial Board in 1975. A professor of law emeritus at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., he is a past member of the Executive Committee and past chairman of the Committee on Practice and Procedure of the Maritime Law Association of the United States. The author of numerous works on maritime law, he is the co-editor of the leading text Admiralty: Cases and Materials (3d ed. 1999) (with Nicholas J. Healy). Professor Sharpe holds an A.B. from the University of North Carolina and an LL.B. and S.J.D. from Harvard University.
